Members of Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services (UTASS) are the first to access LandSkills North East funding.
UTASS delivered the NPTC Sheep Dipping qualification to twelve of its members with funding from the LandSkills programme. The qualification was eligible for funding from LandSkills, as part of the Rural Development Programme for England, because it covers the priority areas of health and safety and animal health and welfare.
LandSkills Programme Manager, Peter Nailon, said: “I am delighted that UTASS have successfully delivered the first training session under the new LandSkills North East programme. The training provided by UTASS is a perfect example of what LandSkills exists to help deliver on the ground.”
Julia Stephenson from UTASS, added: “The sheep dipping training is the first, but not the last, in the funded training which we will be delivering as part of the LandSkills North East Programme. We have also arranged more training sessions as well as a Gola on-line assessment, a practical dipperside assessment and a seminar on parasites with a local vet.
“Funding from programmes such as LandSkills is extremely important to our members in developing their skills and enhancing the way they work and run their businesses.”
LandSkills North East is managed by Lantra on behalf of One North East as part of the Rural Development Programme for England, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and DEFRA.
